No Thirst Software Introduces MoneyWell

THE WOODLANDS, Texas—August 31, 2007—No Thirst Software LLC today released the 1.0 version of MoneyWell™, personal finance software that helps people take control of their spending. Most financial packages focus on historic information. By the time users see what has been spent, it's too late to fix the problem. MoneyWell shows what's happening right now with innovative Spending Buckets and a Money Flow Graph all presenting real-time feedback. The user knows immediately when spending is getting out of hand by just glancing at the single-window interface.

"I spent years tracking my finances with conventional packages only to find that I didn't have clue what I spent each month," said Kevin Hoctor, No Thirst Software President. "It took too long to analyze the budget report or click through layers of pie charts, so I created MoneyWell and placed all my spending behavior on the main window. Finally, I can see what I have left to spend just by opening MoneyWell."

MoneyWell introduces the concept of Spending Buckets, which are used as visual categories. Users will drop paycheck transactions into an income bucket. Then with one click, users can allocate that income to expense buckets for rent, groceries, dining, and other user-defined categories. As money is spent on an activity like dining out, the "Dining" bucket empties until it visually tips over when no money is left to spend. As users continue to spend money from each bucket, graphical clues help to track the flow of money.

In addition to the always-visible buckets, there is a Money Flow Graph below the list of transactions that compares planned versus actual spending. Users wanting to see what has been spent buying clothes just need to click the "Clothing" bucket and the graph immediately shows the past six months of clothes spending. It's simple to page through historic spending without ever having to leave the main window. Users can click on any column and isolate a single month's spending for a specific bucket or any combination of buckets. It's amazing how few clicks it takes to find transactions with MoneyWell.

Searching by payee, memo, amount, or check number is immediate using MoneyWell's integrated transaction search, which filters the transactions list as users type. Even the graph shows spending based on the filter without any extra steps. Click a bucket and a graph column and the transaction list shrinks to only those items matching all three criteria. All this is accomplished without having to leave the main window.

Memorized Transactions make entering new transactions just as simple as viewing them. Users can add commonly used payees to the memorized transactions list and cut down typing of new transactions to a couple of characters. MoneyWell finishes the payee name as the user types and fills in other fields based on user entries on the memorized transactions. Users have full control over what is saved in each memorized transaction. Users can also import industry-standard QIF files and MoneyWell will clean them up based on lists of alternative spellings for payee names called Aliases. Each memorized transaction can have an unlimited number of aliases. Users no longer have to put up with cryptic payee names or excessive uppercase. With memorized transactions, users can now have readable transactions without touching any of them.

MoneyWell also gives users more control over their spending plan. It's not enough to know how much is needed each month, so MoneyWell's spending plan also includes cash flow management. Each bucket can be told which half of the month money is needed so users can balance their cash flow. Buckets are also given a priority to help users allocate income to expenses like rent before entertainment. Additionally money can flow between buckets if users need to borrow money from dining out to get new tires for the car.
