No Thirst Software Releases MoneyWell 1.2
THE WOODLANDS, Texas—December 12, 2007—No Thirst Software LLC today released MoneyWell™ 1.2, personal finance software that helps people take control of their spending. In its first month on the market, there were more than 140,000 downloads of the MoneyWell trial. "This incredible immediate interest in MoneyWell shows that people are hungry for a better way to manage their finances," said Kevin Hoctor, president of No Thirst Software LLC, "Our response to this demand has been to quickly turn around new releases containing the top requested features and to post video tutorials on NoThirst.com to teach users how to get the most out of MoneyWell."
This latest release takes MoneyWell to the next level by adding over a dozen new features including:
- Automatic Memorized Transactions: It's said that the best features in software are the ones you don't even realize are there—this is one such feature. Lots of financial programs remember previous payee names and transactions, but too often these applications end up collecting so much garbage information that it becomes a maintenance task for the user to clean up. MoneyWell is very smart about memorized transactions: It only creates one after the user cleans up the payee name and assigns a bucket. It even finds other similar transactions and fixes those at the same time. It only takes a couple of imported bank downloads before MoneyWell starts cleaning up all your transactions automatically.
- Cash-Only Transactions: MoneyWell 1.2 plugs a hole to stop one of the most common leaks in a spending plan: Pocket cash. With one click, user can create transactions that transfer money to a special cash account. Once in the cash account, users can add transactions for every cash transaction and properly assign each a bucket. Since these are outside of a reconciled checking or credit account, users don't have to deal with split transactions just to hide their spending. It's so easy to use, people may actually start tracking the cash in their pocket.
- Transaction Listing Report: MoneyWell gives you all the tools you need to manage your spending right in the main window, but there are times when it's nice to have a paper copy of your information. This new report uses the active filters to generate a hard copy of the selected transactions. Just like the information on the screen, this report is clean and organized. Users can get a snapshot of the transactions shown without complex report configuration dialogs.
- Duplicate Transaction Review: With the power to import many standard financial file formats like OFX, QFX, and QIF, it's easy to pull in duplicate transactions. Now after an import, the transactions list in MoneyWell morphs to show color-coded duplicates and prompts the user to review these selections. The user can uncheck suggested duplicate transactions to keep them or check others to mark them for deletion. Once the user is satisfied with the selection, a single click removes the duplicates.
- Daily Balance Display: Users can now quickly select any transaction to see what the balance is as of that date in a convenient status message at the bottom of the MoneyWell window. This works no matter what transaction view is active or what filter is set. MoneyWell even allows users to select multiple transactions to get a sum total displayed in the new status message area. This gives the feedback of a running balance column without clutter and wasted screen space.
- Copy/Paste of Transactions: MoneyWell 1.2 has been taught to share as well. Users can select a group of transactions, copy them, and then paste them into applications like Numbers™ from Apple or Microsoft Excel™. In fact, users can paste a list of transactions into any application that accepts tab-delimited text—even an email message! Not only can MoneyWell share with other applications, but it can share with itself. Copy (or cut) transactions from one MoneyWell document and paste them into another.
Other features include: more flexible account transfers, an improved reconcile process, color-coded negative numbers, a new Transfers smart bucket, and several other fixes and interface improvements. All this has been added without losing what has made MoneyWell so popular: Its single-window solution to personal finance.
