Just had to say how much I truly appreciate this application. I just balanced all my statements (all 8 of 'em) in less than 45 minutes. I don't think I've EVER done that before. Moreover, we haven't overspent our income since we started using Moneywell, also a record for us.

I wanted to write and express my impression of MoneyWell and the Website for it. First, the website is extremely well put together and I love the video tutorials. Also, the concept of try before buy is critical for me to "kick the tires" of a product. I am 100% into the envelope system and was using [another product] but got tired of the constant system crashes requiring me to reboot and lack of features. It seems that MoneyWell implements the envelope system and provides most of the other capabilities found in the full-blown money management products.

As I come to the end of my first month as a MoneyWell user I can honestly say that it really has been a life-changing application. For the first time ever I haven't been desperately waiting for pay day and been really pleased that this month it is three days before the end of the month (we're paid on the last working day of each month). I actually have enough money left to see me through the weekend without dipping into next month's money and I've also managed to set-aside 50% of the money I need for some special purchases next month.

By the way, I did a lot of research into looking for the "best financial software program". For years I have used Money but it was cumbersome, limited and ultimately wasn't helping me manage my finances. I've tried nearly every finance managing app available for Mac... and finally found out that MoneyWell was the best for my personal use. The great thing about MoneyWell is the way it allows you to manage your budget: it uses the envelope method, so you put money in different "buckets"/envelopes and use it until the bucket is empty... you're not checking the way you spent your money after spending it (like in most apps). It allows you to really control your spendings, not just analyze them afterwards through reports and stats.

This is one of the best finance apps I have ever used. It has a clean interface and has really helped me get my finances in hand. The best part is the developer is **EXTREMELY** responsive. I use a-lot of software and there are always a glitch or two. The developer continues to work with you until the problem is solved. This is a major rarity in the independent software app world.

It just keeps getting better from there... try it out and see for yourself. One warning though. Watch the online movies and read the explanations. If you are used to using Quicken or Mdance then it will take a few moments to get used to the philosophical changes this type of budgeting brings to the table.

I can't wait to see how good this is going to be... watch out Quicken... there's a new kid on the block. (11/4/2007, Version: 1.0.6)

I've tried most of the Mac finance packages in the search for something similar to Microsoft Money. MoneyWell isn't that, but what I discovered was that I had been looking for the wrong thing.

MoneyWell has a different philosophy - and is aimed at helping you budget each month and track where you are spending your money. Instead of getting to the end of the month and discovering that I had overspent, it is now evident before it even happens.

This change of emphasis is really refreshing and I've found it a much better way of tracking my finances. Having said that, MoneyWell offers many of the features of something such as Money - including a very nice reconciliation feature. It still lacks a few bells and whistles, but development is constant and (most important) building on a stable base. Highly recommended.
